Nancy Metzger Tyson

Nancy M. Tyson, 84, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2017.

Nancy lived in Savannah, Georgia her entire life and graduated from Savannah High School in 1951. She was employed by WTOC-TV as “Miss Nancy” on Romper Room, worked part-time at Charter Hospital and retired after 22 years with Georgia Regional Hospital. Nancy also spent many years volunteering with Savannah’s Little Theatre. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the women’s circle. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Belle and William Jackson Metzger, Sr., her biological parents, Timothy and Eula Tyree, her son, Greg Tyson and her sister, Eula Austin.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Spencer (Donna), Michael (April) and George (Beth); her daughter-in-law Joyce of North Carolina; her eight grandchildren, Courtney West (Matt), Cassandra Cannon (Pierce), Michael, Bryce, Leslie (Billy), David (Katie), Russell and Erin; her eight great-grandchildren, Brandon, Victorrea, Avery, John Henry, Finn, Mary Pierce, Madelyn and Parker; her brother-in-law, Ray, of Florida; her sister, Beth of Texas; her sister-in-law, Phyllis and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Remembrances may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 West 31st St., Savannah, GA 31401 or the Diabetes Association.
